Cube Solver privacy policy
Effective October 4, 2026 · Applies to the Cube Solver app for iPhone and iPad
Cube Solver reads cube sticker colors and creates step-by-step guides on your device. Camera frames are processed locally. They are not uploaded to our servers, saved as photos by the app, or included in analytics recordings.
Camera and local data
The app requests camera access when you scan. Scanned colors and solutions stay in app memory. Manual color corrections are handled locally. Settings, your selected cube, your privacy choices, and the date of your last successful free guide are stored on your device. The free-guide date makes another guide available after seven days. The app has no account or cloud sync.
Optional analytics
When you allow app analytics, we use Mixpanel, PostHog, and Google Analytics for Firebase to understand app usage and improve the app. Events include app launches, screen visits, cube selection, scan progress, solve success or failure, guide completion, and subscription purchase or restore outcomes. Events may include the app and OS version, device model, language, a randomly assigned installation or analytics identifier, and timing information. Providers may derive an approximate location, such as country or region, from your IP address. We do not request GPS access or collect precise location.
These events are associated with analytics identifiers, even though you do not create an account. We do not send names, email addresses, camera images, raw scan colors, or payment card details in analytics events. We do not use an advertising identifier, display ads, or combine this data with other companies' data for advertising or advertising measurement.
Optional screen recordings
Screen recordings are off by default. If you separately enable them in Settings, PostHog and Microsoft Clarity can record interactions on permitted app screens to help us understand problems. Recordings may show taps, navigation, and virtual-cube gameplay. Camera and color-review screens are excluded and masked. PostHog masks images and text inputs; network-content and console-log recording are disabled. Recordings stop when the app enters the background or when you turn off analytics or recordings.
Purchases
Apple processes optional subscriptions and provides entitlement status to the app. The price, billing interval, and eligible trial are shown before purchase. We do not receive your payment card details. With analytics enabled, purchase activity, the product identifier, and the purchase or restore outcome may be collected to measure subscription behavior.
Your choices, retention, and deletion
You can use the app without allowing analytics. Change “Share app analytics” and “Share screen recordings” in Settings at any time. Turning analytics off stops future analytics collection and recordings; it does not automatically erase data already sent. Camera access can be revoked in iOS Settings. Removing the app clears local app data, subject to iOS backup behavior.
Analytics and recordings are retained according to our providers' project retention settings and may be processed outside your country. For a request about previously collected data, contact us using the address below. Because the app has no account and does not collect your name or email in analytics, we may need information that lets us locate the relevant analytics record. We do not have a server-side camera scan to delete.
Providers and external links
Provider privacy information: Mixpanel, PostHog, Google, and Microsoft. The Learn screen includes optional links to educational sources; those destinations have their own privacy practices. This website and support email interactions are covered by our website privacy policy.
Children and changes
The app is a general-audience puzzle tool. Analytics and recordings are optional. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age of consent. A parent or guardian can leave these options off and contact us about a deletion request. We will update this policy when our data practices change.
