Camera and Demo

Open camera uses the live camera, Precise Location and phone direction for current sky positions. Try without camera opens Demo Sky immediately with stars, the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Sirius. Demo works offline without permissions. Drag the scene or tap an object to center it. Demo positions are illustrative.

Find an object

Camera settings shows the selected object’s current azimuth and altitude, refreshed automatically. Choose the Moon, Mars, Jupiter or Sirius, then point your phone toward an object above the horizon. Objects below the horizon remain hidden. Keep away from metal and calibrate the compass when prompted. Enable Precise Location in iOS Settings if it is off.

Moon alignment

The live Moon overlay waits for a visual match near its calculated direction using the expected size and current phase. It aligns the visible disc center and masks the original disc behind the replacement. An unclear or obstructed image hides the overlay. Clouds, blur, exposure and compass errors can prevent alignment. Planet and Sirius overlays use calculated directions.

Zoom

Pinch or drag the zoom dial. Left/up increases zoom and right/down reduces it. Small physical movements have a larger effect at high zoom. The readout and surface detail are simulated; the lens does not capture telescope detail. Demo uses the current lunar phase. Moon color is automatic: the camera uses the observed disc color when alignment succeeds, with an altitude estimate as a fallback. There is no shade picker.

Save or share a shot

Tap the shutter, open the thumbnail, then choose Save to Photos or Share. Allow add-only Photos permission to save. All exports include a simulation label.

Analytics choices

Usage analytics are on by default for new installs. Turn off Usage analytics in Camera settings to stop future collection. Existing off choices are preserved. Camera frames, photos and precise location stay on your iPhone.
